“Kindness travels like a wave — unseen, and still it arrives.”
While painting this, a stillness like “the forest before dawn” spread inside me.
Wind slipping between the trees; somewhere, the soft sound of wings.
Still wrapped in darkness, the sky slowly beginning to pale —
that turning reached me somewhere deep.
Each time I moved the brush I felt an unseen warmth,
as though someone were quietly staying beside me.
I cannot put it into words, but there was a certainty of being protected, of being connected.
It appeared on the canvas by itself, as the round eyes of the owls,
the layering of their feathers, the colours dissolving into the forest.
The deep blue of the night sky, the green of the quiet forest,
the soft light falling on the owls —
each stands for tenderness and blessing,
and while I painted my heart stayed full of a family-like safety
and the joy of merging with nature.
My wish is that this painting can be a warm small light
that stays beside you when you need to rest.
